| About Pixelians | |||||||
Pixelians is a continuing pixel art project originated in 2003, featuing a collection of various characters drawn in an unique pixelated style. The name comes from a combination of "pixel" and "-ians", which means pixel people. The references of Pixelians come from everywhere, like movies, animations, comics, games, brands, and even real world personages.
In 2007, after four years of its establishment, the original project was discontinued and relaunched as the current Beta version, introducing a more detailed and expressive new style. |

| About pixel art | |||||||
Pixel art is a form of digital art created pixel by pixel. A pixel is the smallest unit of digital
graphics. Loosely speaking, it is a tiny square dot containning information of a single color. A bitmap image is made
up of nurmerous pixels. The more pixels an image contains, the better
the resolution it can offer. Since pixel art is friendly to low resolution display, it was often used in older video games, which inspire the creation of Pixelians. |
